Its more art than anything else
To me, science is more art than anything else!
What I meant when I first said that, maybe not so eloquently, is that science takes a lot more creativity and imagination than just “following the book.” When people picture a scientist, they often think of someone who’s analytical, structured, introverted, and maybe a little socially awkward, someone who likes their pens perfectly lined up and avoids eye contact. That’s the stereotype, but it doesn’t tell the whole story.
In reality, yes, some of those traits might show up. But what people often miss is how deeply creative scientists have to be. Think about it: someone had to invent the microscope from nothing but curiosity and questions. Someone had to wonder, "Is the sun revolving around the Earth, or is it the other way around?" Someone had to look up at the stars and think, what’s going on up there?
They weren’t just crunching numbers, they were imagining the unimaginable. They were dreaming up wild experiments to answer questions no one had even asked yet. That’s science.
Creativity isn’t something that just shows up overnight. You don’t wake up one morning and decide to be creative, just like you don’t suddenly become an artist, podcaster, or content creator without effort. True creativity takes time, practice, and energy. It’s a muscle you have to build.
That’s why so many creators hit a wall, they burn out or run out of ideas because that creative muscle gets tired. But in science, we have a built-in outlet for creativity. We don’t just look for answers, we look for better questions. We solve one problem only to open the door to ten more. And that’s the beautiful cycle: question, investigate, discover, repeat.
To me, the science of art and the art of science are one and the same.
That’s my first post. Hopefully, people connect with it.
